To all our supporters and anyone interested in our progress towards saving the Ancoats Dispensary, we extend a friendly invitation to come along to our Open Evening on Monday 7th July, between 7pm and 9pm. Venue will be the that of our regular meetings: the Cassidy Close Community Room, just off Thompson Street, Manchester M4 5FP (part of the Manchester Central Fire Station and close to Wing Yip Supermarket).
This will be a very informal, no obligation evening providing an opportunity for everybody to meet members of Ancoats Dispensary Trust as well as obtaining the latest news on our application for funding under the Heritage Lottery Fund’s Enterprise Programme. It’s also a chance to perhaps identify areas of interest that you may wish to become involved with as the Trust moves forward as well as informally meeting other like-minded people.
Another topic that will no doubt be discussed will be ADT being chosen to take part in a Manchester Metropolitan University research programme, ‘Creating our Future Histories,’ which begins in September. This in itself will be an extremely interesting project to get involved with as it will be the first time that academic researchers will work alongside non-academics within the community. This work will culminate in an exhibition in May 2015 and be shown at one or all of the following venues - Manchester Metropolitan University, Central Library and the People's History Museum. So, if you are interested in research as well as skills in exhibition design, media, photography or have any skills you wish to share please come and let us know.
Most importantly we welcome anyone who simply wants to be a Supporter and spread the word about Ancoats Dispensary in your local area. As you may or may not know, the Trust have been shortlisted for the 'Most Successful Campaign' in the Spirit of Manchester Awards, so we must be doing something right, but we welcome and need as much support as possible!
We really look forward to meeting you all over a cuppa and some light refreshments.
